A man in Detroit lost his case when he challenged a $125 ticket he received from warming up his car. It is illegal to warm up your car in Roseville, a suburb of Detroit, and the judge agreed with the ticket, stating that it was in the public interest to have the ordinance.
Nick Taylor’s lawyer said that the ordinance shouldn’t apply to driveways in the challenge, but the judge disagreed. Nick Taylor’s lawyer was also held in contempt because he Facebooked Live the hearing without permission from the court.
Taylor got the ticket in January and he posted a photo of the ticket on Facebook. The post was shared more than 6,000 times and garnered more than 5,000 comments.
Roseville Police Chief James Berlin defended the ticket, saying that the ordinance is necessary because of thieves targeting cars left unattended in driveways.
