Man arrested for suspected “double mercy killings” (VIDEO)

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – A California man was arrested after he was suspected to have committed two “mercy killings,” his wife and his sister in the same day.

Police were called to the Country Villa Sheraton Nursing Home in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday morning. Officers arrived to find 58-year-old Lisa Nave dead from a gunshot wound to the head, while her 60-year-old brother sat calmly outside on the patio.

LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon said: “He gave up without any problems at all.”

Police then learned that the body of the man’s wife was also found. They believe that he first killed his wife, and then traveled to Nave’s nursing home to kill her next. The sister had been in a vegetative state for five years after suffering a heart attack.

Vernon told NBC: “The assumption there is that he killed her [his wife], then came here and killed his sister.” Vernon said that the killings appeared to be, “mercy killings at least from his standpoint.” And he added, “that certainly does not justify any killings like that at all. According to family, the wife was suffering from dementia,” Vernon said. “The sister was pronounced dead in the hospital bed,” Vernon stated.
