West Virginia State police have detained a 42-year-old man for questioning after what was a lengthy shutdown of I-68 on the West Virginia/Maryland border after the man allegedly made threats to kill President Donald Trump and blow up the Pentagon.

“As a result of the investigation based on a traffic stop that occurred earlier this morning, it had been discovered that threats were made to kill the President of the United States and to blow up the Pentagon. A search of the vehicle revealed a firearm and an explosive powder. A 42-year-old male has been detained for questioning. WVSP in conjunction with the FBI and Secret Service are continuing to investigate. The interstate has been reopened.”, says The Dominion Post.

It was discovered after searching the suspect’s vehicle that he had a firearm and explosive powder according to West Virginia State Police. The man still remains to be identified.

The traffic stop caused quite a bit of commotion and hearsay as confused travelers tried to figure out exactly what was going on.

A truck driver from Oklahoma, Adam Hiser, ran into the unexpected detour while he was making a trip from Louisville to Philadelphia.

“Man, this is crazy,” he said. “I’m just trying to get down the road here to the Love’s truck stop. I don’t know what’s going on that’s got this whole thing shut down like this, but I’d say somebody is in some trouble.”, he told The Dominion Post.

Several law enforcement agencies were on the scene including the FBI who were called in to aid the WVSP, Catherine Policicchio, public affairs specialist, with the Pittsburgh Field Office, said.

The shutdown of the road began around of I-68 near Hazelton, West Virginia started around 11:15 AM on Wednesday and ended around 2:30 PM, according to Wboy.com.
