Mainstream Media Freaks Out After Trump Eats Steak Dinner

by Publius

The mainstream media confirmed last night that being unbiased and reliable just isn’t in the cards. This confirmation of bias happened when Donald Trump neglected to tell the media about his dinner plans. The President-elect ate dinner with his family at the well-known Club 21 in Manhattan. Trump traveled there with his full Secret Service detail.

The unannounced outing was immediately decried by the mainstream press. NBC immediately ran a hit-piece that bemoaned the President-elect’s lack of transparency. We all know how important it is for the people to know Trump’s taste in restaurants. The article also criticizes Trump’s lack of openness with the media. It cites his practice of traveling in a separate plane with the media following him.

The Week, a British weekly publication, took an even more severe tone. The author writes:

That is traditionally not how the presidency works — at least one member of the protective press pool always follows the president around to inform the public where he is and document if anything happens to or near the U.S. commander-in-chief.

CNN went a bit further in their condemnation of the outing. A CNN correspondent claimed that it was a matter of national security that the media knew where Trump is. This is, again, despite Trump traveling with his Secret Service detail.

If the mainstream media ever hopes to be taken seriously again, these types of attacks need to stop. As of September, less than a third of Americans trust the media. Ridiculous attacks like this are part of the reason. Americans do not care if Trump didn’t tell the media about his dinner. The attempts to spin it into a national threat will fall on deaf ears.
