In a completely unsurprising move on Tuesday, David Koch, infamous financial backer of All Things Liberals Hate, has signed a brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn state-level bans on gay marriage. He’s joined by many Republican and conservative signers, who have finally begun to realize that legal marriages promote stable families, and are actually a nice, traditional value they should get on board with – even if the partners happen to be of the same sex.
This may be somewhat disconcerting to Koch’s numerous detractors who don’t seem to understand the difference between “conservative” and “libertarian”, but Koch has been a supporter of gay marriage for several years. He mentioned his social liberalism in an interview with Barbara Walters in December of 2014 – including his support of gay marriage and a woman’s right to choose.
With all this support of drug legalization, repealing the PATRIOT ACT, ending police brutality, along with the aforementioned tolerance for same-sex marriage, you could almost think an idealistic Democrat could get some Koch dollars if they had any economic sense, since inflation appears to be Koch’s #1 issue.
