Larry David and Bernie Sanders Go Face-to-Face on SNL

David Provides Major Laughs as SNL Host

by Josh Guckert

Last night, Larry David returned to host Saturday Night Live and turned in a memorable performance. The comedian has made appearances throughout this season in order to impersonate Bernie Sanders, so it was not surprising that much of his job as host was built upon this impression.

One segment was centered around “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” an HBO series centered around a fictionalized version of David’s life. In the SNL version, entitled “Bern Your Enthusiasm,” Bernie Sanders replaces the main character, covering Sanders’s life the day of the Iowa Caucuses.

Another segment, based in the early 20th century, gave viewers a look at a meeting between the imitator and the imitated, as Bernie Sanders himself made his first appearance on Saturday Night Live.
