Rumors are swirling about musician Kid Rock being eyed as a potential candidate to take on Democrat Debbie Stabenow’s Senate seat in Michigan next year, according to Roll Call.

According to Roll Call, The rocker’s name came up as a possible candidate at a Michigan Republican Party convention last weekend. There have been no official decisions announced as of yet.

In 2013, Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, explained to Rolling Stone that though he usually tends to vote for Republicans and has supported many GOP candidates in the past, he considers himself “more libertarian.”

Roll Call mentions that in 2016, Rock supported retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson before hopping on to the Trump train. Even selling Trump memorabilia with the phrase “God, Guns & Trump” in red, white and blue-colored text.

Stabenow has been in office since 2000 and Inside Elections With Nathan L. Gonzales rates the race Solid Democrat, but Republicans feel more confident after Trump’s win there in 2016 — the first GOP presidential candidate to win there since 1988, reports Roll Call.
