Jury awards $6.5 million to family of man police shot while holding a garden hose (VIDEO)

SANTA ANA, CA – The Libertarian Republic has learned that the family of a man who was unlawfully killed by police in 2010 will receive $6.5 million. Douglas Zerby’s neighbors reported that he may have been holding a gun, when in reality he was watering his lawn with a water hose. Police arrived and shot him in the chest 12 times without warning.

Zerby’s family sued the police and won the verdict, but to his family it wasn’t about the money. “The money doesn’t bring my son back, which is all I really want,” Zerby’s mother, Pam Amici, said after the verdict, choking back tears.

“I would just rather have Doug standing here next to me right now. But this is all we can hope for, and I’m very happy with the result.”
