Johnson Supporters Plan “1,000 Man Assembly” Against Debate Commission

by Josh Guckert

Supporters of Gary Johnson are organizing an assembly against the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) in Washington, D.C. Hosted by group called “Ensure Gary Johnson’s Third Podium,” the peaceful assembly will take place on September 21 from 11AM to 3PM. The Facebook event reads:

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) at 1200 New Hampshire, NW said they will not change their 15% criteria to allow Governor Gary Johnson into the debates. They can change it, [as] they made that arbitrary number up, but they won’t. The pollsters are not asking about Gary in their first question, only in lower questions AFTER asking about Trump vs Clinton.
Gary has made it on all ballots including D.C. That was a feat in itself.

If the CPD does not allow Gary to debate, they are stifling my voice, your voices. The First Amendment grants “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” It’s time for us to exercise that right and tell the CPD to #LetGaryDebate.

Wear your Gary T-shirts, bring any signs you have, make signs that simply say #LetGaryDebate. We will command media attention and start a nationwide outcry.

The grassroots campaign has also organized an EventBrite to confirm attendance.
