John Boehner: We’re on the path to default (VIDEO)

Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner (R-OH) has stated that the nation is on the path to default due to there not being enough votes in the house to pass a ‘clean’ continuing resolution. Clean is defined as one that fully funds the government without defunding Obamcare. However his Tea Party Republicans in the House have refused to cave over the issue and aren’t backing down.

October 17th is the date that the United States will reach the borrowing limit. Congress must either vote to raise the debt ceiling or risk a default that could further lower the United States credit rating as it did last time from a Triple A rating to a double A. Right now the Standard and Poor’s AA+ sovereign rating is reportedly not at risk, however the credit ratings agency has stated that a missed deadline could alter their calculus.

Meanwhile the government shutdown continues with no end in sight.

Could the shutdown be part of Tea Party’s undoing?
