J. Brein Comey, father of former FBI Director James Comey, said during a phone interview with CNN that his son was fired because President Trump was “scared to death of him.”
“[Comey] didn’t give him 100% loyalty, and he demands that of people who work with him,” the 86-year-old father said. “[Comey] said he would give 100% honesty, but not loyalty.” He added that he believed his son was fired “because Jim tells the truth, (while) Trump runs around lying most of the day.”
These comments come at an interesting time, as the president is currently taking his first foreign trip. James Comey also agreed recently to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee.
