The Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville, Georgia, is sending 300,000 cans of drinking water to victims of Hurricane Florence, to help ease the fallout from the storm in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
The American Red Cross requested the brewing company assist in relief efforts and it responded by halting beer production, to turn its focus to hydration, according to WXIA.
Anheuser-Busch also released a statement Wednesday about the company’s efforts to have its Colorado headquarters prepare water for the relief effort.
“The expansion will enable the brewer to more quickly distribute clean, safe drinking water to communities from coast to coast during times of need,” the statement read. “Today also marks the debut of newly designed cans and truck designs that capture the spirit of the program, highlighting the dedication of our employees and partners to support our communities during times of need.”
Anheuser-Busch claims to have provided almost 3 million cans of water in 2017 for natural disasters in Texas, Florida, Georgia and California. It also provided 300,000 cans of drinking water to ailing communities so far this year.
