Hillary Threatens Laugh Factory After Comedians Mock Her

Hillary Clinton doesn’t think comedy at her expense is any laughing matter

by Joey Clark

You’d think Hillary Clinton would have grown a thicker skin after all these years of experience in the public eye, but it appears the highest circles of power have simply made Hillary more sensitive to satire and willing to intimidate those who mock her personally. Such is the ultimate form of political correctness: powerful leaders may appreciate a court fool’s jesting at their request, but step across certain lines as a true iconoclast and poof, the powerful start screaming “off with their heads!”

Judicial Watch reports:

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is going after five comedians who made fun of the former Secretary of State in standup skits at a popular Hollywood comedy club.

A video of the short performance, which is less than three minutes, is posted on the website of the renowned club, Laugh Factory, and the Clinton campaign has tried to censor it. Besides demanding that the video be taken down, the Clinton campaign has demanded the personal contact information of the performers that appear in the recording. This is no laughing matter for club owner Jamie Masada, a comedy guru who opened Laugh Factory more than three decades ago and has been instrumental in launching the careers of many famous comics. “They threatened me,” Masada told Judicial Watch. “I have received complains before but never a call like this, threatening to put me out of business if I don’t cut the video.”

Some of the jokes found in the video include, “Hello, Hillary. Nice to see you. You look great. Nothing like a skirt suit with shoulder pads to say ‘I’m all woman.’ Look at those fucking skirt suits Hillary Clinton wears. She looks like she’s playing linebacker for TJ Maxx. It’s the kind of outfit that you see, who wore it better: Caitlyn Jenner or Hillary Clinton?”

More from Judicial Watch:

Masada told Judicial Watch that, as soon as the video got posted on the Laugh Factory website, he received a phone call from a “prominent” person inside Clinton’s campaign. “He said the video was disgusting and asked who put me up to this,” Masada said. The Clinton staffer, who Masada did not want to identify, also demanded to know the names and phone numbers of the comedians that appear in the video. Masada refused and hung up. He insists that the comedy stage is a sanctuary for freedom of speech no matter who is offended. “Just last night we had (Emmy-award winner) Dana Carvey doing Donald Trump and it was hilarious,” Masada said.

Not only is the comedy stage a “sanctuary for freedom of speech,” it is also one of the last venues where true iconoclasm as a challenge to the powerful can bloom. As H. L. Mencken once said of the iconoclast:

“The Iconoclast proves enough when he proves by his blasphemy that this or that idol is defectively convincing–that at least one visitor to the shrine is left full of doubts. The liberation of the human mind has been best furthered by gay fellows who heaved dead cats into sanctuaries and then went roistering down the highways of the world, proving to all men that doubt, after all, was safe–that the god in the sanctuary was a fraud. One horse-laugh is worth ten thousand syllogisms.”

We can only hope more comedians heave dead cats into the Hillary sanctuary after this news of her campaign’s intimidation tactics.
