Leaked Emails: Hillary Campaign Admits Obama Economy Stinks

According to a recent treasure trove of Wikileaks emails from John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, even those closest to her admit that Obama’s progressive tax and spend policies of the last 8 years have done little to stimulate the economy. This is in direct contrast to what Mrs. Clinton has said on the campaign trail. Perhaps this is another way she maintains separate public and private viewpoints to keep her supporters in the dark about her real thoughts.

On July 18, 2016, Mrs. Clinton said, “Our economy is so much stronger than when [Obama] took office. Nearly 15 million new private-sector jobs.” It’s a claim she’s repeated over and over on the campaign trail, but even traditionally left-leaning publications have called out her faulty math. She’s only talking about job growth since late 2010, while discounting all of 2009 and part of 2010, which were years marked by horrible declines in job creation early in Obama’s presidency when he held a Democratic majority in the House and Senate.

Her spokesman, Josh Schwerin, quickly stepped in to defend his candidate’s record by claiming that the numbers were taken out of context.  Her staff circled the wagons and tried to deflect the criticism.

Privately, however, those closest to her campaign are admitting to themselves that the labor participation rate is, indeed, a serious problem. According to a January 2016 email from Dana Chasin, who is listed as a former legislative fellow for then-Senator Clinton and a National Finance Council Member for the “Ready for Hillary” Campaign, the labor force participation rate came in at a paltry 62.6 percent. This is a rate not seen since the 1970s “stagflation” era of the Carter administration.

For a candidate who claims that her predecessor was good for the country, and a woman who wants to continue more of the same policies of the last 8 years, it’s clearly not a good sign that her people are admitting behind closed doors that they will continue to harm working Americans by sabotaging the economy through more taxes, rules, and regulations.
