Back in the day, soaking in a hot tub was fun, but not incredibly exciting. You would push a button, the water would start bubbling and you could relax. Those hot tubs still exist, but anno 2021 those aren’t what makes a consumer’s heart beat faster. Technology has come a long way, and that’s visible in all kinds of products, from laptops to hot tubs! The engineering has gotten smarter, but also the features of a hot tub are cooler than ever before. Whether you like super strong jets or the full experience with lights, music and waterfalls, it’s all possible! In this article, we talk about the technology of hot tubs and the coolest features you can spot in the newest, luxury hot tubs.
What technology can be found in a hot tub?
When we talk about technology in hot tubs, there’s two things we mean. First of all we talk about the features. What does the tub offer to enhance your relaxing experience? How many jets are there, is there a television, is there music, is there a massage chair built in, can you dim the lights? In this day and age, the possibilities are endless! There are tubs that can connect to your Bluetooth, so you can listen to your favorite tunes, and there are tubs with multicolor lights that will make it seem like you’re in a club. There are even tubs that offer remote control so your local dealer can monitor your tub and spot issues straight away. Handy!
The second part of technology is engineering. This can’t be seen by the naked eye, but just like some car brands are known to have great motors, some spa brands are known as the Ferrari’s of that world… and well, others aren’t.
What engineering should you ask about?
Of course the features are important and fun, but if you’re thinking of buying a hot tub, take a look at the engineering. If the hot tub was made with the newest of the newest technology, it will function better and you’ll enjoy your soaks even more.
There are a few things you can ask your local hot tub seller. For instance, ask about whether or not the product is built with durable materials and multilayer insulation. These will make sure the heat stays in your hot tub, so you don’t have to keep on heating up your water. Believe us, this will make a difference when it comes to your electricity bill! Also ask your salesperson what kind of motor is included – you can even ask their opinion! If a hot tub has powerful jets to circulate the water around, there needs to be a powerful motor that can handle that. If possible, we also recommend you take the hot tub ‘for a test drive’. It’s really important that you can try out whether or not you like the jets and also the ergonomics of the tub. It would be an absolute shame if you couldn’t sit comfortably in your expensive hot tub! Every brand has done years of research and testing to figure out the perfect seating, but of course every person is different!
How to find the perfect hot tub for you
Are you thinking of buying a hot tub (Dutch: hottub)? Then we recommend you to look online for the best reviewed brands and models before you visit your local dealer. At least then you know what you’re talking about! If you for instance have more space in your garden, we recommend you to also take a look at a ‘swim spa’. These are fairly new to the market and combine a spa with a swimming pool with current; so you can swim but don’t actually reach the other side of the pool. A swim spa (Dutch: zwemspa) is loads of fun!
We hope you can find the hot tub of your dreams!
