Helicopter Hit by Firetruck Crashes and Explodes into a Spinning Ball of Flames

SANTIAGO, CHILE – A police helicopter attempting to land at a crash scene was destroyed after it clipped a fire truck and exploded into a ball of fire. Two were injured but alive. The pilot suffered multiple fractures and an officer was hospitalized.

The incident reportedly occurred in San Miguel in Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile.

It happened after the police helicopter was summoned to a crash involving a police car and a vehicle driven by a drunk driver, which left three officers injured and taken to hospital. Police closed off the street to allow the helicopter, with a paramedic on board, to land.

A fire truck travelling through the accident zone then struck one of the helicopter’s blades, causing the helicopter to flip over and explode with the blades becoming a spinning ball of fire, with sparks flying off in all directions, Esol reported.
