The BBC reported on how Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe mentioned how behind he thinks Hollywood is on race relations. This is a departure from what we typically hear coming out of Hollywood, who usually takes pride in their inclusive nature.
Of course, it isn’t the first time the Glitteratti from Tinsel Town have made a stink about race issues in the movie making industry. There was a boycott of the Oscars earlier this year from a number of well-known black actors, including Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith, who thought that the absence of African-Americans from certain Academy Award categories warranted an increase of awareness.
Now we see white, male Brits commenting on it. Is it time for a deeper dive into the race stereotypes happening in Hollywood?
