Gunman on the loose after shooting up left wing newspaper “Liberation” (VIDEO)

PARIS, FRANCE – A suspected lone gunman is on the loose in Paris after shooting up the offices of the newspaper “Liberation”. One photographer’s assistant was shot and is said to be fighting for his life. [contextly_sidebar id=”7fc91f0b1e42b15954470dfa4c224411″]

CCTV images showed the man who fired several blasts before he shouted at a senior editor, “Next time, I will not miss you.” The gunman allegedly hijacked a vehicle and briefly took the motorist hostage shouting: “I’ve escaped from prison, take me to the Champs (Elysées)!”

An hour after the attacks, witnesses described shots being fired outside the headquarters of Societe Generale bank in the La Defense business district. The shooter has fled the scene carrying a pump-action shotgun and is reportedly still at large.

Anastasia Vecrin, a Liberation journalist, described the scene: “I was just arriving for work and I saw a man lying on the ground, holding his stomach and with blood everywhere,” she said.
