A Florida City police officer shot and killed a family pet on video Tuesday morning.
The officer, whose name has not been released, approached the Palacios family’s house and knocked on the door to inform them that they had left their car door open. When the family answered the door, Duchess, a bulldog mix, bolted out the front door. The officer pulled his gun and fired at the animal three times.
The officer involved, has been placed on administrative leave, which is routine for the department, according to police.
Video surveillance of the event has been posted online. Be warned, the video is graphic in nature and may be difficult to watch for some.
