Govt Orders Cop To Undergo Counseling After Posing With Rapper Snoop Dogg

In a world where police officers are protected for killing little boys and acquitted of murder, it’s tempting to believe it’s nearly impossible for the hammer of justice to be brought down upon those tasked with serving and protecting their fellow citizens. However, the Texas Department of Public Safety has proven the cynics wrong, ordering a state trooper to undergo counselling after posing for a photo…

… with Snoop Dogg.

Sgt. Billy L. Spears was reprimanded after the famous rap legend asked him for a photograph. Captioned “Me n my deputy dogg”, the picture ended up on Snoop’s Instagram account, where it was “liked” thousands of times before the Department of Public Safety spoke up, stating the image “reflects poorly on the agency.”

“While working a secondary employment job, Trooper Spears took a photo with a public figure who has a well-known criminal background including numerous drug charges. The public figure posted the photo on social media and it reflects poorly on the agency.”

In Spears’ defense, lawyer Ty Clevenger noted that he was unaware of the Dogg’s criminal background, arguing “some folks don’t watch TMZ or People Magazine.”

“DPS claims that the counseling forms are not really discipline, therefore the employee has no right to appeal. Yet those counseling incidents can block a trooper’s chances for promotion or advancement … So what’s the big deal? Would the DPS hierarchy get so bent out of shape about a picture with Willie Nelson?”

The bureaucratic incompetence is absolutely astounding when you consider how many police officers are backed up by their respective forces when alleged to have broken the law themselves, unless strangling people for selling illegal cigarettes is now acceptable.

In any case, the moral of this story is clear:

Shoot bullets, not photography.
