Frmr Child-Welfare Worker Hurdles Her New Born Baby Out 7th Story Window

“It was more like [she was] not human. She was deranged, like she was lost. You know, when someone has a look in their eyes like they don’t know where they are?”

Those are the words of Kevin Bolton, age 29, who witnessed an unimaginable tragedy when Jennifer Berry, 33, hurdled her newborn baby girl from the 7th floor of her boyfriend’s apartment, near Yonkers, New York. Berry has claimed the baby was stillborn, but medical examiners have concluded it was indeed born alive and died from blunt trauma.

Police responded to a call that an infant had fallen from a window and found the gruesome discovery when the arrived. They found Berry’s daughter’s body, its umbilical cord still attached, on the ground of the courtyard.

Police believe that Berry, a former child-welfare worker, hid her pregnancy from her boyfriend, who was led to believe Berry had had an abortion. The boyfriend, Giovanni Johnson, 28, who was in the other room when Berry gave birth and proceeded to murder her child, told police he had no idea either event had occurred and was unaware she was pregnant. He has been dating her for around a year and half.

“I didn’t know (about the pregnancy),” he told the press. “I didn’t know any of this. I’ve been cleared of all charges.”

Berry has been charged with murder and manslaughter.
