We at The Libertarian Republic love a story with a happy ending. That’s why we are so pleased to be able to bring you a followup to our story from the other day where a homeless man returned a satchel containing $2,300 in cash and $40k in travelers checks.

Today we learn that the man, Glen James, will now be receiving a reward GREATER than the amount that he returned! The Boston Police had a ceremony honoring James, but he’ll now be sitting pretty with a cool $50k to do with as he pleases thanks to Ethan Whittington.
When Whittington heard the story about James, he leaped into action, setting up a website to raise money for the good Samaritan. The outpouring was enormous! More than 2,000 strangers donated more than $55K to the cause, shocking even Whittington. He’s been getting offers of computers, clothing and even jobs for the man.
The two men spoke on Tuesday and are reportedly feeling a bit overwhelmed.
