Family of woman killed by Capitol Police speak out (VIDEO)

The family of Miriam Carey has come out in public to speak about the shooting of their family member by U.S. Capitol Police. Valarie Carey and Amy Carey-Jones say they are baffled as to why their sister engaged in a police chase with her 1-year-old daughter.

The family does admit that Miriam suffered from post-partum depression and dementia. She had received a head injury in April of 2012 and upon receiving treatment for that injury, she discovered she was pregnant. After she gave birth, she reportedly contacted the Stamford Police to ask for protection. She believed that she was a prophet and that President Barack Obama was monitoring her electronically. She received mental health treatment but there are no results from it publicly available.

Valarie Carey is a former NYPD officer and believes that excessive force was used for firing on her sister, who was unarmed. Critics of their point of view are pointing to the claim by officers that she was using her vehicle as a deadly weapon.
