Donald Rumsfeld on ISIS: “Brings Back To Mind Period Before WWII”

Former Secretary of Defense, twice, Donald Rumsfeld appeared on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren to discuss the situation with ISIS. Rumsfeld argued that many in the country are still in denial about the threat posed from ISIS terrorists. “It brings back to mind the period before World War II where people said ‘I didn’t know’ or ‘I was just following orders’ or ‘it’s random,’ but when you kill – systematically kill – Jews and kill Christians and say that’s what you’re doing, it’s not random, it’s purposeful.”

Rumsfeld remarked on the fact that people are acting like this type of terrorism is new, but he believes that it isn’t. The difference is that the media has changed, and that terrorism is now dramatized. The former SECDEF cited Lenin, who said that the purpose of terrorism isn’t to kill, it’s to alter people’s behavior.
