ABC News is reporting that the Department of Justice has announced that Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Army National Guardsman, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison and 5 years of supervised release for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State and the Levant (ISIL).
According to the release, Jalloh plead guilty in October of 2016. In March of 2016, a now deceased member of ISIL who was located overseas brokered an introduction between Jalloh and an individual in the US who was actually a FBI confidential human resource (CHS). The ISIL member was actively plotting an attack in the US and believed the attack would be carried out with the assistance of Jalloh and the CHS. Jalloh met with the CHS on two occasions and told the CHS he was a former member of the Virginia Army National Guard, but he decided not to reenlist after listening to online lectures by Anwar Al-Awlaki, a deceased leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
