Did Taylor Swift Endorse Hillary Clinton?

You may have read on the Internet that Taylor Swift has endorsed Hillary Clinton and they are working on a huge fundraising concert together. I’ve already seen some conservatives threatening to never buy her music again. Whoa… everyone chill out.

This rumor seems to have originated from this tabloid magazine, OK! Apparently, some “insider” told them that Taylor will be endorsing Hillary Clinton. As a proud Swiftie (Taylor Swift super fan), I know that the tabloids and their anonymous sources are often full of crap.

Tabloids are not credible new sources! They’re so stupid. This week, the tabloids can’t make up their mind if Taylor and her boyfriend have broken up or if they’re planning their dream wedding in castle. Oh, and a source says she’s pregnant with a baby boy for the gazillion time.

It’s amazing to me how many people will believe tabloid rumors without doing more research. Especially conservatives who are generally distrustful of the media! What’s up with that?!

There’s no proof of this Taylor-Hillary fundraising concert. Taylor has not announced it via social media like she normally does. Her team has reportedly denied the rumors. It’s unconfirmed, people!

I’d be surprised if Taylor Swift endorsed Hillary Clinton. Not because I think Taylor is a libertarian or anything. I actually don’t know her political views and I follow her closely.

“But, but, she’s friends with Lena Dunham!” So? Are you only friends with people that share your political views? It’s rather shallow to assume that Taylor doesn’t have her own mind and opinions.

She’s been careful to not discuss politics publicly and actively avoids the subject. In 2012, she told TIME, “I try to keep myself as educated and informed as possible. But I don’t talk about politics because it might influence other people.”

It would be out of character for Taylor to endorse anyone for president. Taylor is notoriously savvy about her career. She plans every last detail of her tours. She doesn’t do anything sketchy in public that would ruin her image. There are no TMZ videos of her getting sloppy at a club. She’s always doing amazing things for her fans: secret listening parties at her houses, sending them gifts, writing inspiring messages to them on social media, visiting sick fans in the hospital, etc.

Taylor Swift is the biggest thing right now. She’s equally loved by Republicans and Democrats. The dumbest thing that she could do is alienate a good chunk of her fan base by endorsing someone for president– and I think she knows that. Please don’t do it, Taylor.
