Denver To Vote On Legalizing Psychedelic Mushrooms

Thanks to the work of the Denver Psilocybin Mushroom Decriminalization Initiative, voters of Denver, Colorado will be able to vote on legalizing psychedelic psilocybin mushrooms on May 7, 2019. The group brought forth 5,559 valid signatures, exceeding the bar of 4,726 they needed to make it on the ballot.

This would make Denver the first U.S. city to legalize mushrooms. That shouldn’t sound like a new concept to Colorado voters, who voted to become one of the two first states to legalize marijuana. This vote will be one of great historic potential and, if passed, would be another major step forward towards ending the War on Drugs.

The bill would prevent the city from using resources to impose penalties for possession and consumption of psilocybin mushrooms by adults ages 21 and older.
