Democrat Says Job Losses Will Mean More Time to Cook Dinner (VIDEO)

This is what some Democrats actually believe.

During an ABC roundtable yesterday, host Jonathan Karl asked his guests about a recent Congressional Budget Office report on ObamaCare.

The report found that, because ObamaCare offers more subsidies to those who work less, many people will actually lose income by working more. It therefore amounts to a tax on work for the middle class and creates a “disincentive for people to work.”

Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison, rather than contest the CBO’s projections, defended them as a good thing. Ellison – who co-chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus – explained that more dependence on government will mean that people have more free time. “People might actually be able to cook dinner rather than have to order out and get some takeout.”

When Republican Congressman Tom Cole objected, Ellison indignantly replied “Ask a working mother if she could use a few more hours in the day to take care of her family.”

Ellison’s defense is similar to remarks made by Obama spokesman Jay Carney, who recently said that “Opportunity created by affordable, quality health insurance allows families in America to make a decision about how they will work, or if they will work.”

Democrats’ embrace of the CBO report should be a wake-up call to moderate Republicans who view ObamaCare as well-intentioned but misguided. We now have a government that openly encourages people not to work at the expense of those who do.
