Cop Repeatedly Punches A Woman In The Face Before Arresting Her (VIDEO)

A Pittsburgh police officer has been put on desk duty after a video surfaced showing him grabbing a woman by the head and punching her in the side at the city’s LGBT pride parade and celebration.

The officer, Souroth Chatterji , claims he was trying to break up a fight when he grabbed the woman so he could handcuff and arrest her. He accused her of fighting with him and kicking him in the groin. Twenty-two-year-old Ariel Lawther, was charged with aggravated assault against the officer.

The Delta Foundation, which helped organize the annual PrideFest event, asked police and city officials to further investigate the incident.

“We are pleased that Mayor Bill Peduto has issued a full investigation into the matter that occurred between the City of Pittsburgh police officer and Ariel Lawther. It is our understanding that Ms. Lawther has been released from jail and we are currently in the process of reaching out to her to see if there’s anything the Delta Foundation can do for her. In the meantime, we have contacted U.S. Attorney General David Hickton‘s office to also inform them of the incident and launch a potential hate crime investigation,” said a written statement from the Delta Foundation.
