PHILADELPHIA – NBC News is reporting that detective Ronald Dove is accused of helping a murder suspect who he was romantically involved with. Erica Sanchez is suspected of murdering her ex-husband by stabbing him to death in September.

According to sources, Sanchez reportedly called the detective for help and the officer got her a lawyer, let her use his car and moved her vehicle at the crime scene. Later it would be reported he urged other detectives to “go easy on her”.

Sanchez has fled and there is a warrant for her arrest. The officer was taken off the streets and reassigned but still on active duty. Police searched his home and confiscated items relevant to the case. The detective may be charged with obstruction of justice and interfering with an investigation. Dove has admitted to investigators that he is in love with Sanchez.
