Clinton Raked In Triple The Money Trump Did In July

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton raised $90 million during the month of July, almost three times the $35 million Republican nominee Donald Trump raised in the same month.

Clinton’s fundraising team has gained significantly more money than Trump every month since May, when Trump ended the month with $1.3 million in the bank. July was no different, with Trump earning only $35 million in fundraising numbers, according to Trump himself.

“It’s gonna be announced tomorrow or the next day: we’ve raised, we think, about $35.8 million. This is unheard of for Republicans, $35.8 million,” Trump said during a rally in Ohio Monday.

The number isn’t even high enough to be unheard of for Trump’s own fundraising history. June’s donors gave Trump $51 million in donations, while Clinton raised $70 million during the same period. 2012 Republican nominee former Gov. Mitt Romney earned $101 million in July after he won the nomination.

Clinton’s $90 million came with an average donation of $44, according to the campaign. Fifty-four percent of all donations came from donors new to the campaign. The biggest fundraising period of the month came during the 24-hour period after her acceptance speech — the campaign earned $8.7 million.

Trump told supporters that the average donation to his campaign was $69, with 517,000 donors giving what Trump called “small donations.” Trump did note that $19,000 of that total came from hedge fund managers, “I don’t even want it. I think I’ll send it back,” Trump added.
