Residents of Alaskan Town Pondering Regime Change

Stubbs is a 16-year-old cat who has been through quite a bit in his life. As the Mayor of the Alaskan town of Talkeetna, his responsibilities have taken him on quite a few adventures.

Stubbs survived an assassination attempt, jumped off a moving garbage truck, fell into a restaurant fryer and most recently survived being mauled by an angry dog. Still, he’s not commenting publicly yet on whether he’s ready to step down. Despite this, Talkeetna residents are reportedly discussing regime change.

“There is great debate whether or not there will be an election, who will replace Stubbs,” says one resident. “Who knows? It’s a great question.”

Stubbs was appointed Mayor for life, and enjoys high approval ratings. “He hasn’t voted for anything I wouldn’t have voted for,” said one woman.

But not everyone appreciates Mayor Stubbs service. “My wife hates cats and gets totally creeped out eating at the pub with Stubbs,” said one townsman.
