Canadian Professor Launches Attack Against Political Correctness

by Amber Randall

A University of Toronto professor decried current political correctness and “genderless pronouns” during an hour long YouTube lecture.

Speaking on a current Canadian bill, psychology professor Jordan Peterson spoke out against outlawing discrimination based on “gender identity” and “gender expression,” reports The Varsity.

Bill C-16, which has already passed through the “First Reading” stage, seeks to make certain amendments to the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Canadian Criminal CodeThe bill proposes to make discrimination and harassment based on gender identity and expression illegal.

Peterson also disagreed with how the Ontario Human Rights Commission defines gender identity as “each person’s internal and individual experience of gender. It is their sense of being a woman, a man, both, neither, or anywhere along the gender spectrum.”

Peterson says he does not agree with the idea of a person not exclusively identifying as male or female, declaring “I don’t think that that’s a valid idea. I don’t think there’s any evidence for it.”

Peterson also said he would deny requests to refer to students by different pronouns, declaring “I don’t recognize another person’s right to determine what pronouns I use to address them. I won’t do it.”

“The pronoun issue is straightforward. I won’t mouth the words of ideologues, because when you do that you become a puppet for their ideology,” Peterson further explained to the National Post.

Peterson reportedly made the video after receiving a human resources memo that discussed mandatory anti-bias and anti-racism training.

“That disturbs me because if someone asked me to take anti-bias training, I think I am agreeing that I am sufficiently racist or biased to need training,” he told the National Post.
