The former student council president of a university (Witwatersrand) in South Africa was ousted in light of recent comments he made praising Hitler for murdering white people. Student protesters were threatening to call for a mass demonstration if Mcebo Dlamini, who said the remarks, was not fully reinstated.
Mcebo Dlamini was initially suspended after he was accused of assaulting a senior staffer at the university, but his inflammatory remarks have hardened sentiment against allowing him to return as president of the student council. Dlamini claims that “Zionist pressure” is what forced him to resign his post. “I’m not vacating my office because the students have said so, but because a weak man has said so.”
“He [Adolf Hitler] reduced white bodies to the same level of black bodies. Because, according to a white man, only a black man must be killed. According to a white man, only a black man must be placed in a quarantine to die.”

Dlamini was belligerent when confronted about his remarks on Hitler, saying “It’s proof to everyone that white supremacy is putting its boots on the neck of the black child.”
University Chancellor Adam Habib said: “As of today, Mr Mcebo Dlamini is no longer president or a member of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC). In February 2015, Mr Dlamini was found guilty of misconduct by a disciplinary panel and given a sentence of, inter alia, one-year suspended exclusion in respect of each charge against him.”
Some students at Wits University were upset about Dlamini’s remarks, but others believed that his removal was unfair. Habib made it clear that Dlamini was not suspended over his remarks, but the physical assault. A separate hearing over the comments has been scheduled.
