On Monday, Glenn Beck interviewed Ted Cruz on his radio show about his endorsement of Donald Trump. Cruz stated that Trump’s prospective Supreme Court picks (including Mike Lee) were imperative in deciding to vote for the Republican nominee. Throughout the interview, Beck and his co-hosts insisted that Cruz give some indication as to what has changed since the primary season.
After the fact, Beck stated that he was wrong to have invested his faith in Cruz and that he wishes he had endorsed Marco Rubio instead. Said the radio host:
I should have said, ‘You know who can win? You know who could beat Hillary Clinton? Marco Rubio. And I disagree with him on the Gang of Eight, and there’s about 80 percent that I do agree with him on, and he’s kind of a politician but he’s a different kind of politician, he’s a young politician, he’s a Hispanic, he can win. Let’s go for it!’
Beck had previously anointed Cruz as the “new George Washington.” He responded Monday saying, “For the very first time I heard Ted Cruz calculate, and when that happened, the whole thing fell apart for me. It’s my fault for believing that men can actually be George Washington.”
