LISTEN TO TLR’S LATEST PODCAST:
The anti-war left has officially turned a new leaf and joined the treacherous neocon wing of militarism, and begun to eat their own.
The Daily Caller (TheDC) is reporting that top Democrats are not pleased that Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard pushed the U.S. to collect and release evidence from the scene of the chemical attack in Syria.
Gabbard, who in January traveled to Syria to meet with President Bashar al-Assad, has been consistently cautious about American involvement in the Middle Eastern country. The Hawaii congresswoman said in a statement that the airstrikes on Syria were “short-sighted and will lead to more dead civilians, more refugees, the strengthening of al-Qaida and other terrorists, and a possible nuclear war between the United States and Russia,” reports theDC.
The dovish legislator has also mentioned that she has not seen enough evidence that Assad was behind the chemical attack that led to the death of dozens of civilians. She made mention of the necessity for an investigation into the chemical attacks before responding, and that “if President Assad is found to be responsible after an independent investigation for these horrific chemical weapons attacks, I’ll be the first one to call for his prosecution and execution by the International Criminal Court,” theDC explains.
Contrary to Gabbard, however, US officials remain adamant that Syria was responsible for the attack as radar showed Syrian warplanes in the area during the incident.
Neera Tanden, head of the Center for American Progress, and former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean both responded to Gabbard’s comments with outrage.
“This is a disgrace. Gabbard should not be in Congress,” Dean tweeted Saturday.
This is a disgrace. Gabbard should not be in Congress. https://t.co/yDTh43GZam

Tanden said, “People of Hawaii’s 2nd district – was it not enough for you that your rep met with a murderous dictator? Will this move you?”
Gabbard responded in a tweet on Monday saying:
Those who've declared Trump a habitual liar now vilify those refusing to blindly follow him into another regime change war. Hypocrisy.

She continued on to explain that the White House’s policies could have “devastating unintended consequences.”
This destructive war in Syria, like Iraq and Libya, aims at the regime change that left those countries in tatters. https://t.co/NDhmEoGQp3

The Syrian people have suffered for too long. Regime change trumpeted by the WH has devastating unintended consequences. https://t.co/LAdI4JUjgV

Our Constitution is written so that the American people have the right to weigh in prior to acts of war. Congress must vote.
— Tulsi Gabbard ???? (@TulsiGabbard) April 7, 2017
Congressional approval is meant to help prevent aimless warfare without clear justification, goals and exit strategy.

The US should have supported a through UN investigation and international law in regard to the gas attacks in Syria.
— Tulsi Gabbard ???? (@TulsiGabbard) April 7, 2017
Now, a proper investigation of the attacks will likely not even be possible because of Trump's reckless rush to bomb Syria.

Escalating Syria regime change war = more children and innocent people dying. #ResistTrumpsWar now.
— Tulsi Gabbard ???? (@TulsiGabbard) April 9, 2017
She also warned against another war in the region, asking if the US has learned nothing from its previous engagements.
Have we not learned from Iraq and Libya? The road to hell is paved w/ good intentions. Escalation means more dead children, more refugees.
— Tulsi Gabbard ???? (@TulsiGabbard) April 7, 2017
US attacks on Syria won't save children, rather will strengthen al-Qaeda's attempts to overtake Syria, leading to more deaths and refugees.

With the war drums beating, and the emotions involved, it appears that even the anti-war left has now succumbed to the powers that be, eating alive what was left of those who didn’t salivate at the chance to use military action.
