Amazing! Drone Copter Chases Rocket Launch! – The Race to Colonize Space Is Underway! (VIDEO)

 To infinity and beyond…

Elon Musk thinks we need to move beyond this blue & green ball. He’s currently trying to lower the cost of space travel, by a factor of 10. Musk believes… it’s time to leave Earth.

3,000 market heroes from SpaceX test launched a rocket prototype that was chased by a remote-controlled, hexacopter drone. The employees of SpaceX are elated that their mission to colonize other planets is on track. The SpaceX Grasshopper leaped 250 and 325 meter jumps above ground. The rocket has proven very agile, providing the spacecraft with its biggest hop yet at 744 meters. That’s about half a mile.

The Grasshopper is made out of a Falcon 9 first-stage tank, a Merlin 1D rocket engine, landing legs with a steel support structure.

This rocket doesn’t just blast off in this video. It floats perfectly back to the launchpad, as if it were as light as a feather.

And guess what? They are planning on being able to reuse these things.

Conventional rockets deploy fuel canisters that are discarded, and carry a heavy price tag. SpaceX’s design is more cost-effective. NASA is even using them to shuttle supplies to the International Space Station.
