Afghani Refugee Attacks Four With Axe on German Train

On July 18th, on a crowded train heading for a stop in the town of Würzburg, Germany, a 17-year-old Afghani refugee wielding an axe and knife began to attack passengers on the train car. Thankfully no fatalities came of the incident but three passengers where critically injured and one passenger suffered minor injuries. The teen had been living in the nearby town of Ochsenfurt since migrating to Europe alone, according to a statement made by Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. The teen fled the train when it arrived at the station but he was quickly tracked down and shot dead by local police.

No official information on the motive for the attack has been released by the local authorities. Yet some witness from the train have reported to the German media that they heard him yelling “Allah Akbar” (God is Great), the phrase often invoked by Islamic terrorists, while he was on his rampage.

This attack comes on the heels of the Nice, France attack that killed more than eighty revelers at the city’s Bastille Day events, and while Germany has so far managed to dodge large scale attacks like those that have recently plagued France and Belgium, they aren’t immune to the possibility of one. German authorities have made it clear that the risk for such an attack remains high, a fact that is made tangibly noticeable when an events such as this occurs.

An event that should be a warning sign to German officials and media but have so far failed to be. Many German media outlets muddle reports of race/ethnicity of criminals out of fear it will reveal the criminal issue within the migrant community. While elected officials in the nation where charges of “right-wing racism” can be career poison, due to its history, refuse to speak out or make policy changes pertaining to migrant issues out of fear of such charges being made against themselves. Hopefully more attacks of this nature will not be needed to act as wake up calls to a nation currently in a state of silent denial over its cultural problems before a massive attack along the lines of those in its neighboring nations takes place within their own borders.
