University Of San Francisco Advertises Black-Only Orientation

The University of San Francisco is hosting a black student-only orientation Friday, a day before the school’s general orientation.

The university advertises the Black Student Orientation as the event welcoming black students to the “USF Black Experience,” according to The College Fix.

“We have designed a day-long program to facilitate a smooth transition to college life, acclimate students to on and off-campus resources, address the specific and particular needs of African American/Black students at USF, and build community with Black students, faculty and staff,” reads the orientation description.

The black-only orientation will consist of workshops discussing financial aid and community building, among others. A financial aid session is not listed for the regular student orientation.

Several universities have held race-specific graduations in 2017. Harvard University and the University of Toronto planned black-only commencement ceremonies and Columbia University held separate ceremonies for black, Latino, and gay students.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to USF for comment, but received none in time for press.
