8-Year-Old Kicked Out of Special Needs School for Paper Shaped Like Gun (VIDEO)

NEW YORK, NY – 8-year-old Asher Palmer was expelled from a special-needs school in Manhattan for allegedly constructing a toy gun with pieces of rolled up paper.

According to Asher’s mom, Melinda Spadone, the boy made the gun-shaped paper rolls after discussing military weaponry with his dad, a veteran from the first Gulf War.

After the incident, Principal Micaela Bracamonte of The Lang School, which expelled Asher, sent an email to staff members at the school saying that the boy “had a model for physically aggressive behavior in his immediate family,” most likely referring to the boy’s father’s status as a military veteran.

Ms. Spandone called the comment “offensive and inappropriate.”

Ms. Bracamonte suggested that Asher be home schooled the next year.
