76-year-old woman killed in shootout with robbers (VIDEO)

She wasn’t going down without a fight!

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — A 76-year-old woman was killed in a shootout when she attempted to protect her stash of cash earned from 15 gambling machines. Dorothy Hendrix was targeted for armed robbery by Steven Benard HagoodTereba Racquel Geer, and Bradacious Terrell Galloway due to the money that Hendrix made from her illegal gambling business.

Family members reported that Hendrix was involved in the day-to-day operations of her gambling business and often returned home with large sums of money. She was killed in an exchange of gunfire with her thieves at the Cinema center where she kept her machines. Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said, “This was not a random act.  The robbery was planned, and she was specifically targeted.  The trio had knowledge that Hendrix carried large sums of money home with her at night.”

Hendrix had apparently gotten a gun since she was robbed once before. Thieves stole about $1,000 from her in October of 2011. Relatives reported that she learned to shoot after the robbery.

Two of the thieves were wounded during the shootout are recovering, and one is being held in the Anderson County Detention center.
