Senator Rand Paul is different, yeah he’s different. He’s the most hipster 2016 presidential candidate for his trendy political policies, not falling under either party’s stereotypical policy alignment. I’m surprised he wasn’t invited as an opener at Coachella this year.

1. He dresses down because he’s chill

Rand has upset the big dogs within the establishment GOP donor base because he likes to wear his “dad jeans,” plaid shorts, and cowboy boots when attending speeches, interviews, and campaign events. Only thing left for him are some thick-framed glasses and fanny pack.

2. He promoted decriminalization as a conservative before it was cool

Following in his dad’s footsteps, Rand is helping to blaze the path (pun intended) for the decriminalization of non-violent drug related crimes in an effort to decrease arrest rates among black men in urban communities. As a GOP presidential contender, that’s about as underground as it gets.

3. His curls are def not mainstream

It’s no man bun, but Rand’s golden locks are the talk of the town. He’s got that “effortlessly cool” look.

4. He made being “anti-Iraq war” trendy

Rand faded away from interventionism as Hillary Clinton and other GOP candidates embraced it, and now polls show that voters are a fan of the eclectic candidate’s anti-Iraq war stance.

5. He’s the first presidential candidate to host a Bitcoin MoneyBomb

On July 4, 2015, Rand’s campaign is going to host the first ever Bitcoin MoneyBomb because he’s hipster like that. Crypotocurrencies are so not mainstream.
