5 Democratic Talking Points Debunked

1. Climate Change is “Directly Related” to the Growth in Terrorism

Damn you, climate change

Fitting the most absurd comment goes to the most clueless candidate on the field, Bernie Sanders. Bernie actually believes that “climate change” is a greater threat to people than a nuclear war with Iran and Russia. As if it wasn’t insane enough, he sooner said that the weather is at more fault for the Middle East’s destabilization than the invasion of Iraq. Instead of learning from our interventions in both foreign policy and in economics, he plans on waging war directly against ISIS by bankrupting your small business and raising your energy bill. But you can trust Bernie, because he’s got science on his side.

Or does he? According to a report by the peer-reviewed Organization Studies, most climate scientists are skeptical climate change is man made, much less a “crisis.” The 97% figure, which was thoroughly debunked by the Wall Street Journal, doesn’t take into account the different opinions held by climate scientists. Some scientists believe it’s partly caused by humans, some believe not at all, some believe in more regulation, some believe in less.

But even if climate change is our fault, it doesn’t mean that more laws are the answer. The free market still solves problems much better than the government ever could. Look around your house. Your smart phone and tablet has saved you more paper than you give credit for. Industrialized hemp can make a much greater volume of paper products than trees, and even most capitalists are supporters of alternative energy. Every day, strides are made towards affordable, green technology because the  marketplace must meet the demand for it. But you know who doesn’t believe in affordable energy for the middle class? Bernie Sanders.

Bernie voted against a bill that would have protected middle income families from a national energy tax. During the depths of the great recession, Bernie would rather line the pockets of the federal government further than allow the middle class more money to scrape by with. If this didn’t pass, the government could pass taxes on anyone making less than $250k a year. But of course, Mr. Sanders doesn’t much care for the finances of working families. After all, his net worth is $700k, well above anyone this tax would hit hard.

If there’s one thing Democrats are right about, it’s that education is important. That’s why it’s important you educate yourself on what these elitists say and what it means for you.
