Recent Changes In International Air Safety Laws 

It is no exaggeration to say that, since the tragedy of September 11, 2001, there have been many changes in the way that governments work to protect the safety of international airways. Many of these changes have come in the form of expanded legislation that seeks to govern the access that suspected terrorist organizations may have to air travel, while others aim to provide expanded security to people who are traveling by air, whether within their own country or internationally.

One of the more unusual but beneficial changes in airport security in the wake of September 11 was the adoption of widespread shoe screening techniques. It actually took a further incident to make shoe screening an omnipresent trend throughout the United States. This incident was the 2002 “Shoe Bomber” case that involved the capture of a would be terrorist who had planned to detonate a bomb that was hidden within his shoe. Since then, shoe screening has become a mandatory component of airport security throughout the nation and, increasingly, on a worldwide scale.

The Foreseeable Future For Increased Air Travel Security Measures 

New techniques are being developed all the time in order to enhance the security of passengers in all modes of national and international travel. Because airline travel is the preferred method of most foreign visitors to the United States, it stands to reason that airplanes and airports will receive the most scrutiny, as well as the strictest protection measures. The most important goal is to prevent the recurrence of a major tragedy like September 11. So far, this goal has been met, and it is hoped that these measures will continue to provide the safety and security that the public requires.

Enhancing The Safety Of The International Public

While the foreseeable future for increased air travel security measures remains an uncertain one, it is safe to predict that such measures will be gradually perfected in order to provide safety and security in an unobtrusive manner that most passengers will barely recognize. By making security measures less noticeable, the sting of a perceived violation of personal privacy will likewise become less sharp. By reducing opportunities for criminals and terrorists to cause major incidents, the TSA and its agents are doing their part in order to secure the safety of the international public. These new stealth security measures are not only making the country safer, but are doing so in a way that reduces opposition based on widespread misunderstanding of the reasons they are so vitally necessary.
