13% of Democrats Now Say Adultery is ‘Morally Acceptable’

A recent poll compiled by Gallup reveals some telling things about the Democratic party. The study shows that 13 percent of Democrats believe cheating on your spouse is morally acceptable, compared to 1 percent of Republicans.

For a party that claims to be the champion of women’s rights, prominent Democrats have shown little respect historically for their own wives. The cheating scandals of politicians have provided fodder for the masses for years, but given how often it’s a Democrat in the spotlight for being unfaithful, it seems as though the party has some predilection for infidelity.

Over eighty years ago, Franklin D. Roosevelt was extremely unfaithful to his homely yet charismatic wife, Eleanor. The president was famous in inner circles for his wandering gaze, taking at least five mistresses to his secret love nest in upstate New York. Roosevelt’s “menagerie of mistresses” included his wife’s secretary, his sixth cousin, a New York Post publisher, a Swedish princess, and unsurprisingly, his own secretary.

The affairs devastated the former First Lady, who wrote, “The bottom dropped out of my world.”

John F. Kennedy is notorious for his sexual deviancy, taking starlets like Marilyn Monroe and even German prostitutes for lovers. One 19-year-old White House intern even stated the president took her virginity. “If I don’t have sex every day, I get a headache,” Kennedy would often joke.

In recent years, there’s been no shortage of philandering Democrats monopolizing the airwaves as long as the outrage lasts. I grew up hearing the sordid details of Bill Clinton‘s own affair with a White House intern blasted on every channel. Add that to the affairs of John Edwards, Jim McGreevey, and Anthony Weiner, and you have more than just a string of coincidences.

This is not to say Republicans are exempt from straying from their marital vows. While there haven’t been any Republican presidents who were caught in extramarital affairs during their White House years, they may have just been better at hiding it. However, there have been more than a few Republican congressional representatives who haven’t been able to keep it in their pants.

Senator Larry Craig faced an embarrassing scandal after he was caught soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom. The Defense of Marriage Act supporter tried to keep the incident from his wife, and it’s likely this wasn’t his first attempt to engage in sex with another man. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich also had some fidelity problems with his first two wives, even allegedly requesting an “open marriage” with his third wife.

However, the sexual conquests of Democrats while they are either seeking or holding power in the White House are so numerous and lecherous that it’s tempting to believe there are underlying issues at play.

Fictional Democrat Frank Underwood shed some light on the use of sex by politicians by quoting Oscar Wilde on the Netflix series House of Cards. “Everything is about sex except sex. Sex is about power.” Perhaps the gratuitous affairs of these men are a reflection of their own power lust.

Either way, Democrats are seemingly becoming more accepting of the behavior of their representatives. When your party has a track record this poor, I suppose your standards can’t help but be lowered.
