11-Year-Old Girl With a Shotgun Gave An Intruder A Nasty Surprise

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]n 11-year-old girl wielding a shotgun managed to scare off an intruder in her home. The girl was home alone when a car pulled up and a man tried to force his way into the house. The girl grabbed her shotgun, crawled into her closet, and waited… until the man finally busted her door down.

The girl aimed the gun at the intruder, who immediately fled.

“Her father is an avid hunter, she is familiar with weapons and inside that closet is where the gun case is,” Detective sergeant Jason Parks said.

The suspect was located about 30 minutes away by authorities, who promptly arrested him. Two people were reportedly involve in the incident, James Wasson and Rhonda Steward. They were charged with first-degree home invasion, second degree home invasion, and burglary tool possession.

“Due to this little girl, her keeping her composure, she was able to observe and articulate what she saw. It definitely made a huge difference in this case and because of that ability, people are in custody,” Parks said.
