Woman Calls For Ban on Sex Robots. Guess Why?

Robot Ethicist Dr. Kathleen Richardson is calling for a ban on the creation of robots used for sex.

“Sex robots seem to be a growing focus in the robotics industry and the models that they draw on – how they will look, what roles they would play – are very disturbing indeed,” she said in an interview with the BBC.

Richardson is concerned that the artificially intelligent robots would reinforce stereotypes of women, and the viewpoint that relationships should be nothing more than physical.

But truthfully, it would likely have the opposite effect. Why? Because the only people who would be impacted by this are the people who only have something physical to offer. People with actual positive personality traits would be lifted up, and those who are only beautiful and desired for sex would suffer. It would require people who desire relationships to cultivate positive personality traits, and not be reliant on their looks for attention from the opposite sex.

“We think that the creation of such robots will contribute to detrimental relationships between men and women, adults and children, men and men and women and women,” she added.

The problem with her logic would be that it should mean that she should call for a ban on sex toys for women, since vibrators would be demeaning to men. Also, her mindset stems from a belief that women have a right to relationships with men. It is the entitlement mentality that other people should be controlled, in order to fulfill one group’s (women) idea of how the other group (men) should behave.

And of course, if as a society we were to bow to every puritanical group’s wishes on taboos, we’d be required to ban all forms of sexual interaction to please the prudes, conservatives, and puritans of every sect.

Also, wouldn’t the type of person who would use something like this be the type that many other people wouldn’t desire to be with anyway? These robots could be remarkable tools for the lonely, the widowed, the depressed. Don’t they deserve some happiness?

People have been trying to control the sex lives of others for quite some time, gay sex, interracial sex, sex with condoms, oral sex, so it’s no surprise that there would be a call for this to be banned as well. Now that sex robots are on the horizon, is anyone surprised to hear another group of modern puritans calling for it to be banned? A new wave of puritans are here to spoil our fun, and they are the modern feminists.

There is an enormous demand for the robots, which will sell for approximately $7,000.
