What Chris Rock Does Every Time A Cop Pulls Him Over Has Everyone Talking

[dropcap size=small]C[/dropcap]hris Rock has been taking to social media for something that is not a laughing matter. Rock has been taking a selfie every time the cops pull him over, one as recent as Tuesday where he captioned it “Stopped by the cops again wish me luck.” This tweet documents the 3rd time in recent weeks Rock has been pulled over by police, presumably guilty of ‘driving while black’.

It is unknown why Chris Rock was being pulled over. In one instance he wasn’t even driving. Nor has he come forward to speak about what he aims to accomplish with these photos. What we do know is Rock has always been loudly vocal on his views of racial profiling in this country, arguing that if given the choice, no one would trade places with a black man. Not even him.

In a 2013 Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee episode, Rock and Jerry Seinfeld were cruising at high-speed in a 1969 P400S Lamborghini Miura in Allendale, NJ when they were pulled over by an officer. After the police sirens can be heard in the background, Rock says to Seinfeld, “It would be such a better episode if he pulls me to the side and beats the sh*t out of me,” In a kidding- but not really kidding kind of way- he says, “If you weren’t here, I’d be scared. Yeah, I’m famous—still black.”

According to data released from the Justice Department last year, here are some highlights from the report “Police Behavior During Traffic and Street Stops:

Whether Rock is being profiled by police or he’s driving like Jimmy Johnson on his final lap of a race, is not apparent from the social media shares. Either way, this is certainly one way to grab some instant media attention on the big ‘picture’ that statistical data has already revealed and what we continue to grapple with as a whole in society.
