The United States of Debt and Terror

Big Government Destroying America

Great news today from Capitol Hill, where our Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has finally acquiesced to testify in front of our duly elected representatives. It appears that they do indeed work for us occasionally.

She will likely be called into account for the dramatic failure of the Healthcare.gov website that American taxpayers spent $500 hundred millions dollars for. Topics of interest should be the Canadian contractors that we exported the jobs to, the amount we spent, and why we used ten-year-old technology to create a national health care website.

Consider the fact that we as citizens will be fined (taxed) if we don’t buy this insurance. It means that we should all (in theory) hope that Sebelius succeeds in fixing this bungled mess, or else there will be repercussions for all of us… except for those ‘anointed ones’ of course, who are exempt.

This brings us to Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.

Fresh, and unscathed from the debt battle, the mop-haired radical-in-jeans introduced a substantive bill today that is a constitutional amendment.

This amendment reads in part:

“Congress shall make no law applicable to a citizen of the United States that is not equally applicable to Congress,” the executive branch including the president and vice president as well as the Supreme Court.

So the 111th Congress, many of those legislators still-sitting, gave us this law and would no longer receive their special subsidies under this amendment. Seeing this legislation pass would be a start.

Lost Money, Lost Time

We’re $17 trillion dollars in debt as of a few days ago, with a record $328 billion dollar jump thanks to the debt bill. It’s almost like the addicts on the hill were alcoholics who had gone sober for a couple of weeks and relapsed with a drinking binge. Fitting metaphor considering that many of the congress were drunk when they voted to shut down the government.

If the president had refused to pay the creditors of the United States due to the caps of the debt ceiling, he should have been impeached, because it would have been his personal choice. Republicans missed an opportunity there.

The 14th amendment states that the public debt shall not be questioned. There is absolutely no reason for the government of the United States to default. The US is only really allowed to default when it defaults on its obligations to the American people.

No Friends Amongst The Leadership

The United States government spent two weeks “closed”, terrorizing people by sending armed guards to shut down their businesses and running them out of their homes. There were no concessions for the grassroots who fought to get some tax cuts or reductions in spending. The unions got almost everything and the GOP establishment collaborated with the enemy to make it happen.

While grassroots conservatives and libertarians rallied to support veterans who were arrested at their monuments, the Republican establishment was getting its hands greasy in the pork barrel that would come when the government reopened.

Meanwhile real patriots formed the first monument militia and started mowing the lawns.

The shutdown was a total waste of time when the Healthcare.gov website was failing so spectacularly in public.

This brings us to President Obama.

jimmyThe president’s address today summoned the ghost of Jimmy Carter when he famously fainted while jogging, creating the image that he was a weak president. Our current President Obama had a similar moment when a woman standing behind him nearly fainted as he gave his apology for his national health care website failures.

As Obamacare continues to flounder, the Republicans will have wished they staked more of their political capital on this battle, instead of the government shutdown. Now they’ll have to make up for lost ground.

If the president’s signature legislation continues to see him stumbling to fix it, the Republicans will gain ground. But the grassroots has plenty of names in red states to prepare primaries for, to cleanse it before 2016 comes. If Obamacare continues to fail, the ghost of Jimmy Carter’s failures could be passed from Obama to Hillary along with the torch, which would hopefully sputter out forever on their progressive agenda.

The Grand Old Party could soon be approaching its “Gotham Moment“, when something is totally hollowed out and destroyed, so that it may be filled again with something new. It’s been a long time coming. The liberty movement has done well recently, and if kept up, it could have the momentum to restore this republic from the long decades of progressive debt, and terror.
