Thomas Massie: If Rand Paul Were President, Obamacare Would Be Repealed

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has never been a giant supporter of President Donald Trump. He has given a carrot to the President here and there, but most often wields the stick to bad policy coming from the White House. And when it came to the repeal of Obamacare, Massie, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, has not held back at wielding that stick.

On Tuesday, Massie appeared on the Fifth Column podcast to talk all thing health care and his bill to abolish the Department of Education, reports RedAlertPolitics. During his visit, the Republican held nothing back.

“There are a lot of members on the Hill here who are walking around as if somebody shot their dog,” Massie said describing the post-AHCA failure. “They look so depressed — and it’s just a few of them, I’m not going to name their names — borderline in tears, because they have come to the realization that we don’t really have 218 conservatives here in the House that meant what they said when they said they wanted to repeal Obamacare root and branch.”

He went as far as to say that had his fellow Kentuckian, Sen. Rand Paul, been elected President, Obamacare be repealed already.

“If we had elected Rand Paul we wouldn’t be in this malaise right now with regards to health care. I mean, he’s a doctor and he understands what’s broken. And I co-sponsored his offer here in the House to reform health care, or health insurance.”
